1. Product characteristics: Urotropine is colorless or white crystalline or crystalline powder, odorless, sweet at the beginning and bitter at the end. It absorbs water in the air and has deliquescence. When the relative density is 1.27, it is sublimated when heated to 260-263 ℃. It is easily soluble in water. The aqueous solution is alkaline, soluble in alcohol, insoluble in gasoline and acetone, and slightly soluble in ether. 2. Purpose:

① Hexamethylenetetramine is mainly used as curing agent of resin and plastics, catalyst and foaming agent of amino plastics, accelerator of rubber vulcanization (accelerator h), shrink proof agent of textiles, etc.

② Hexamethylenetetramine is the raw material of organic synthesis, which is used to produce chloramphenicol in pharmaceutical industry.

③ Hexamethylenetetramine can be used as a disinfectant of urinary system. It has no antibacterial effect and is effective against gram negative bacteria. Its 20% solution can be used to treat bromhidrosis, sweat feet, tinea corporis, etc. It can be used as phosgene absorbent in gas mask by mixing with sodium hydroxide and sodium phenol.

④ It is used in the manufacture of pesticides and insecticides. The highly explosive cyclone explosive, RDX, can be prepared by the reaction of hexamethylenetetramine with fuming nitric acid.
